Capacity Building

Lack of professional staff at Women’s Protection Centres (WPC) and state institutions consequentially means that appropriate service delivery to Violence Against Women (VAW) survivors are not sufficiently provided. Furthermore, WPC and relevant state institutions’ staff are overworked and understaffed and often experience symptoms of vicarious (secondary) trauma affiliated to their daily work.  A systematic training approach will effectively ensure more professionalized and effective help to VAW survivors and strengthening the capacity of professionals within the field of VAW significantly, which in turn will help assist survivors in overcoming the trauma they have experienced as well as help them break the cycle of violence. In addition, through DAWEO’s training sessions since 2012, not only the capacity in the WPCs and relevant ministries will be strengthened but also the negative perception of WPCs will be reshaped among them and through them among larger group in the community.
